Rumors swarm in the tablet community that Apple might be cooking a new iPad, but using a different recipe. These tales of new Apple tablets remain still with a lack of back up, as proof of changes that are to be made on the iPad are still nowhere to be seen. The first “unicorn” is the reduction in price. Apple plans to bring out a cheaper iPad, so they can enter in the race of low cost tablets, where at this point Amazon’s Kindle Fire holds the crown for a budget friendly device. Among all the speculations, the question about what will be reduced along with the price arises. A whiff of “mini” has gone out the Apple door, and the wind has taken it to our ears. As much as everyone wants to believe it’s a tag related only to the future price, it seems the new iPad will have a significant reduction in size also. This barely believable speculation comes from the Apple component suppliers that leaked the information: Apple received LG and AU Optronics sample screens that went to the implementation centre. So it seems the “mini” tag is referring not only to the price, it goes out to the future size and looks of the iPad.  At the moment Apple’s iPad 2 is the most equipped tablet out there, though in all fairness, the most expensive and to compete with Amazon’s Kindle is quite difficult given Fire’s price.

The brand new iPad is due to have a 7.85 inch screen and this is no longer a speculation. Apple confirmed this will be the size of the tablets and this way, basically, all the rumors became true. It seems Apple strategists have tried to lower the price on the current iPad, but after long strategy planning, appears the only way to do that would be to reduce the device’s size. On an interview, Steve Jobs has once said the following: “The reason we won’t make a 7 inch tablet isn’t because we don’t want to hit that price point, it’s because we think the screen is too small to express the software”. So according to him, a small sized iPad would not make much sense. In that direction, designers could make a change in the tablet’s specs, to hit the price point, but I have a feeling that is unacceptable for a lot of people. Apple has tried in the past to reduce the prices for their magnificent gadgets, but their suppliers were the ones that made the price deflation impossible.

So, come late 2012, mini iPad tablet will come forth, with a competitive price and the same specs good ol’ iPad has nowadays.

Adobe for iOS

Furthermore, Apple has developed a new friendship with Adobe and now iPad and iPhone users will be able to have Flash support on their devices. The long cold relations between Apple and Adobe have made faithful Apple users suffer, as tablets and phones were relatively annoying without Flash support. Adobe has developed a special format, now iOS friendly. So today, as the old spat ended, if you have an Apple tablet you can view your PDF files, including the encrypted ones. Moreover, you will get to share and print your files and for now it ends there, as editing features are to be added subsequently, in the forthcoming update. And in the end, the best news of all, the Adobe has created their platform for iOS and it will be free for you!

After all, Apple is a company that has always come through to its users, they created amazing devices and have pushed technology one floor up. As Steve Jobs has promised 20 years ago, the computer is now smaller than the A4 paper and all you do is gently touch the screen and that’s it! Great job, visionaries!
